So last year my plate was running over big time....way too much to do and nowhere near enough time to do it in. Sadly, my blog was one of the things I put on the back burner. Needless to say, I still haven't slowed down....and it's still on that back burner! Lindsay & Edward

Lindsay and Edward were our first couple of 2009. I have been neglecting my blog very, very badly and I'm so thankful they have been very patient. Things have just been so busy finishing up things for the year's end and getting ready for taxes is no fun at all!

Lindsay and Edward were married at the beautiful Ryan Nichols Inn in Simpsonville back in January. Although it was cold, the day couldn't have been more perfect.

One thing I love about Ryan Nicholas....it definitely allows for shots you don't typically get at church weddings. This one of their guests.... And this one of Lindsay as she smiles at her groom!
After the ceremony the bridal party had to wait on the back patio to be introduced at the reception. It was a tad cold standing out there, but they had fun while they waited.
Then it was time for the fun to begin!
There were way too many shots I liked of their first dance as husband and wife.

I was able to sneak away for a few minutes with the bride and groom for some pictures of them alone!
I think this one is my absolute favorite from the night.
And then back inside for some more dancing!

Christin & Brandon

Christin and Brandon have been so patient waiting on their sneak peek....thanks guys for being patient...we've had a LOT going on so the blog kind of got pushed to the back burner. The Saturday after Christmas was Christin and Brandon's big day! Christin was soo excited and Brandon was nervous.....and the ceremony, well, it was gorgeous!

I love the way Christin was looking at Brandon....I don't think they knew there was anyone else around!
Before the newlyweds took off for their honeymoon, their parents gathered around to give them a big hug....and shed a few tears!

Then out the door they went!

We had the opportunity to follow them to their hotel for some fun shots before we left.

I think this was the best part of the day for me. I love these shots.....

Christin's mom had pinned a sachet under Christin's dress when she was getting ready. It was filled with notes from all the women in her life.

While we were there, the bride and groom had their first fight as husband and wife - a pillow fight!

Finally we were kicked out of their room!

And left the two of them alone!
Christin and Brandon - thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special day. We had a great time and I don't think it could have been more perfect! We enjoyed it and hope you two had a great time on your honeymoon to D.C.!

Miss Wrenicycle 2008

We've been overwhelmed with the Christmas rush so the blog has been a little behind - we have several sessions that aren't blogged which we will try to get posted soon.

I have gotten several inquiries about the pictures that we shot at the Miss Wrenicycle pageant so I thought I would post this on here so that everyone knows what's going on. With the amount of pictures we took, they will not be online until after the first of the year - probably the end of January. We are swamped with Christmas orders right now and trying to get all of our client sessions finished up before the holidays and then we will be out of town for a week.

I just wanted to take a minute and tell everyone that we hope you have a very Happy Thanksgiving! I'm sure I'll eat too much today, but that's okay! We get to spend time with our families and then us girls have our annual Thanksgiving night trip to Garden Ridge - I know we'll see the regulars there we see every year!!!!

I know several of you are waiting on your sneak peeks to be posted on the blog....I'll have those up for you soon! With this sinus infection, I haven't felt too great the past week or so.

Baby Audrey

Baby Audrey came by on Friday for a session. She had a doctor's appointment before she came - little did her mom know that she was going to get shots. Needless to say, little Audrey wasn't in the best of moods, but we still managed to get some great shots of her!

I am not sure why, but this one is my favorite!

Wednesday Marty and I met the Otten Family at Reedy River Falls Park for a very chilly session. You couldn't tell it by the pics that it was cold though - we still got a smile from everyone!

The Howell Family

Monday I met the Ashley, Greg and Stella for a family session. Stella was tired, but we were able to get a few smiles out of her! Here are my favorites from their session....

Originally scheduled for Friday, we had to move Stacy's bridal portraits to Sunday because of the rain. I'm glad we did - Sunday's weather was perfect and we got some amazing shots of this beautiful bride! I wish I could post some images, but I have to wait until she's a Mrs.! Saturday Marty and I drove down to Columbia to visit my friend (and college roommate) Alicia and her family. After debating on where to do their family session, she finally decided on Irmo Town Park.....I think she made a great choice!
There were so many pretty leaves out there and Xavier had fun picking them up!

The Whitehill Family

Yesterday I met the Whitehill family at the lake inside their subdivision. Although it was a little chilly, the fall colors were still spectacular. Here are my favorites from their session!I couldn't help getting a shot of this tree.....I love the bright fall colors!

Most of the time I am able to get a few smiles out of children, but every now and then sometimes, they just don't want to smile!

But we did have fun playing in the leaves!

The Marquess Family

Yesterday I met Charlotte, Jeff, Emily and Katelyn for some family portraits. I always say I love it when I am able to photograph children of friends from high schoo, well Charlotte is one of my best friends....we've been friends since birth and I was thrilled to be able to get some pictures of her and her family!

Big Boy Alex

Monday I met Alex and his mommy downtown at the Children's Garden for a session. I can't believe how much he has grown since last year but he still has those big blue eyes!We were even able to get a few of Alex with his mom!

So at the Children's Garden, there are a lot of colorful things to touch and see....and I must say that during our session, Alex's attention was totally NOT on me! LOL! He kept looking at all the neat things around him...but what got his attention the most was the huge Winnie the Pooh!

I think Alex was non-stop the entire time! I am sure Kathleen stays exhausted trying to keep up with him!

He was very interested in the nursery rhyme drawings too!

Kathleen, it was great to see you again and I still can't get over how big Alex is! I hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Drew and Chelsea

I got a text message from my friend Drew a few days ago - Chelsea wanted me to do some pictures of the two of them with the fall colors. Well, we are pretty much booked up for the entire month - but he got lucky. Today's reguarly scheduled senior session had to be postponed due to an injury. So I texted Drew to see if him and Chelsea were available today. Things worked out perfectly....and I think if they would have had to wait much longer there wouldn't have been many leaves left!

They let me pick the location...just told me they wanted "purty trees" - I love it when I have a session that I can relax and pretty much just do whatever I want to do. They left it up to me...and I am very happy with the result.....so, here are my favorites!

Big Girl Kinley

Saturday Kinley stopped by for a session - this girl was all smiles and too cute! I have to admit -I had a lot of favorites from this session!

Haley and her mom came with Kinley and her mom. The girls have matching Christmas dresses (which came with cute dolls) so we attempted to get a pic of the two of them together! I can't believe how big Haley has gotten - they don't stay little long!

Stephanie - it was great seeing you girls Saturday! I had so much fun with the little ones! Monica - you did a fabulous job on the tutus!!!! You rock! :0)

The White Family

First of all I want to say I can't believe it has been over 2 years since I last took pictures of Rafe. It seems like only yesterday. Friday I met Cory, Mandi, Rafe and Buck at the Rock Quarry for a family session. I always say how great it is that I'm able to photograph kids of friends from high school......and this is another one of those times. Cory and I were pretty good friends in high school - he picked on me constantly - but I guess I wouldn't copy notes for just anyone when their hand is injured! LOL!

I honestly don't think we could have asked for better weather or bright fall colors this weekend - here are my favorites from their session! :0)

Little Man Zachary!

Thursday Marty and I met Zachary and his mom at Converse College for a session. Kristie, his mom, won one of our portrait certificate sessions we donated to BI-LO Charities! I had fun chasing Zachary around and all I have to say is I love his eyes and wish I had his energy!!!!

The Shields girls and their families

I'm going to warn you - this will be a long post - remember, I warned you. Okay, so after thinking for a few minutes of how to title this post, I came up with the Shields girls and their families even though only one of them is actually a Shields now.....BUT it was easier than saying the Woodward, Keller, Coleman and Shields families.....that would be too much of a mouthful. Anyway, I was excited about today's session....it felt more like I was shooting my family! I've known these girls for close to 5 years now I think and I feel like I just fit right in with them!

So, on to my favorites from today and I'll warn you, there are lots of them! The little girls were excited to see one another and quickly took off in front of the rest of us.
I have to say, this is my favorite one of all of them! I love the black by the way!

The fall colors were a perfect backdrop!

We got the little girls out in the field for a couple by themselves. Setting up for this shot, I made one big mistake. I think I sat my camera down either right in or right near an ant hill. Not good. I went to pick my camera up and it was covered in ants. I started blowing and thumping them off thinking it was no big deal - but they attacked - let me just tell you, those little boogers hurt! LOL! My hand itched for a while, but is fine now....still have some whelps on my neck, but can't feel them unless I rub them. Guess I learned my lesson....I need to watch out where I set my camera down in the grass!

And then the whole group!

By this time, I was ready to get away from the field and it's ants! Then it was time to get some of the individual families. First up...Joye and Josh! We shot their wedding last year and I'm happy to see they have moved back to the Upstate from Charleston since Joye has finished up law school!

Next was Kristy and her nieces!

The Kinard Family

Saturday Marty and I were back at Reedy River Falls Park along with tons of other photographers and people in general.....but it was a beautiful day! And again, it was a friend from high school who's family I was there to shoot! We met Christy, Kevin and Koby and were able to find some places away from people to do their family session. I can't believe how big Koby is now! Here are my favorites from their session.....

The Walker Family

I've said many times how it's great that I have the opportunity to photograph friends that I went to school with. Well, I had that opportunity again on Friday. Marty and I met Shanna and her family at Reedy River Falls Park for a family session and to get some of Corrie by herself. I can't believe it's been so long since I've seen Shanna - we've known each other since our days at Rilla Rin before we even started kindergarden. Shanna and her family have just recently moved from Charleston to Nashville, TN and it was funny when she joined Facebook we realized that her and her husband are good friends with a good friend of mine who was one of my college roommate - small world!

Okay, so enough rambling - here are my favorites from their session!

I've also said that 18-month-olds can be one of the hardest ages to photograph - but also one of the most fun. Corrie was no exception - her independent walking, never wanting to sit down at all!

Cliff Mautner Workshop

So a few of you know that I have been out of town for a few days. I left Monday to go to Philadelphia, PA for a photography workshop hosted by one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world - Cliff Mautner. The workshop was way more than I expected and gave me a totally new way of looking at light. Anyway, I won't bore you with all the details - we had to pick four of our images to be critiqued on the last day of the workshop. Here are the four I chose.....

The Grumbles Family

Yesterday we met the Grumbles Family at Reedy River Falls Park for a family session. I am surprised at how quickly the leaves are turning and falling. With the little amount of rain we've had, we aren't getting the beautiful bright colors like we normally do but there are still some pretty colors in them!

The Ferguson Family

Marty and I met the Ferguson's Wednesday out at Reedy River Falls Park. You can definitely tell that Fall is in the air - the weather is cooler and the leaves - well, not sure we're going to see much color in them this year, but they are starting to fall.

Tyler and Ryan looked great in their matching outfits. You'd almost think these two were twins but they are close to 2 years apart.

I tried to incorporate some new locations at the park this time. I think this is one of my favorites.

Mason & Ryleigh

Yesterday I had the opportunity once again to catch up with a friend! I have known Mason & Ryleigh's mom for most of my life. As a matter of fact, I can't think of a time when I didn't know her. I grew up playing with Amy and her sister Amber and we went through school together. I was shocked at how much Ryleigh has grown since the last time I saw her and Mason is just as cute as ever! Here are my favorites!
They did such a great job!It was too cute - every now and then Ryleigh would just laugh out loud!

I think this had to be one of my easiest sessions with kids. These two did everything I asked them to do. Marty and I both agree that these can't be Amy's kids - her kids are supposed to be wild like she used to be when she was younger!!!!! :0)I think she laughed the majority of the time!!! It was too funny! A couple more of Marty's shots....

The Salvato Family & Baby Owen

I always say how great it is when I am able to photograph friends who I went to high school with and their kids. Saturday afternoon I had the opportunity again! Zach, Lisa, Emily and Owen, the newest addition to the family came by for some family pictures and some newborn pics of Owen. It was great to catch up with Zach and Lisa - it's been a while since I've seen either of them!

I think I could photograph babies all day long! I told Lisa she's going to have her hands full with this one - I wasn't sure we were ever going to get him still! He's a squirmy little booger!!!!

I couldn't leave Miss Emily out. She was cute and did such a great job! I am sure she's going to be a great big sister!Then it was more of the whole family! Emily got to hold Owen and was so cute trying to rock him. Zach and Lisa, I have to say that you two have two gorgeous children. I had a blast with Emily and I'm so glad I was able to meet Owen! We definitely need to get together soon for dinner or something!!!!

Yesterday we were back at the Rock Quarry again......and again there were two other photographers - LOL! Popular place apparently - luckily it's big enough that it was fine - we all stayed out of one another's way.

This little guy has the most amazing blue eyes! I loved them!

Playing in the water. I laughed when I saw this one. He just looks so sad - but cute.Climbing the tree! A couple of family shots with his mama and daddy! Now, I so wish I had Logan's energy. He didn't want to stop the whole time. So, I finally got him to sit down - bribery can be a good thing! I think these shots with the sucker are my favorites!I wonder what he's thinking!

There's those eyes!At one point, he just laid down....no one told him to, so if I would have wanted him to, he probably wouldn't have - that's usually my luck!!!!Back to those thoughts again!And one last one - he's going to be a heartbreaker with those eyes when he gets older! Yesterday Marty and I met the Lowman Family out at the Rock Quarry for a family session. I think everyone else had the same idea....there were two other photographers out there at the same time! But, the weather was great and these guys looked fabulous in their green!Annalise wondering where her mama and daddy are!
She was too cute in her little dress!One of Marty's shots.A little fun time running around! I love when I have easy-going mom's who don't mind their kids getting dirty...or even wet! A Saturday without a wedding.....

About a month ago I got an email asking if I could second shoot with another photographer. I had a session scheduled for a college friend of mine, but was able to move it around and make myself available. It's not very often I get to second shoot and jump at the opportunity any chance I get. I think it's a great time to spend some time with someone you have a lot in common with - the love of photography! For me it's usually a time to learn new things from a fellow photographer and to possibly be able to share your knowledge in return!

Anyway, Saturday was a great day. I was super excited to be able to second shoot for Marian Loftis of Marian Ashley Photography. And as usual, I am probably posting way too many images but I had a blast and it was a gorgeous wedding with beautiful weather!!!!! Now on to my favorites!

The monster make-up case - the thing was HUGE!
I thought it was neat that one of the lipstick colors was FUN!The sharp-dressed men! The handsome groom!He was very photogenic - you don't get guys too often who don't mind having their picture taken!

The girls!Most of the time, as a main shooter, I don't get to capture the emotional moments...that's usually Marty's job, so I had a blast during these! Love her smile! I think this was one of my most favorite shots. Her flowers were gorgeous!

A little fun with her girls.Then is was time for the ceremony. The flower girl!This was about the best unity candle shot I've gotten....usually I'm not able to get positioned this good. These two girls were too cute! Especially this one with her pink shoes! The huge bridal party - but I focused on the bride and groom. and their shoes!

As Marian was getting some shots just before the reception started, I had to get the bride's flip flops.The first dance....Happy as can be!Now at our weddings, the groom usually gets a garter from the bride....not these! The reception.... And they were off to Hawaii!!!!Marian, thanks so much for asking me to shoot with you, I had so much fun!!!!!! I know Aaron and Deana are thrilled to be working with an amazing photographer!!

Ayla & Senior Girls

Ayla's mom had called me about doing pictures for Ayla and some of her friends who are all seniors this year. I was super excited to hang out with all these girls. So, Marty and I met Ayla, her mom and her friends Sunday to shoot their session. Poor Marty - he was way out numbered!!!!
Here are some of my favorites - yes - there's a lot of them! This one was taken as we were waiting on the last two girls to get there!

I think this one is my favorite of all of them. Just as we were about to go across the tracks, we hear a train whistle.....so we had to take advantage of it. I mean really, what are the chances!!!!!A little seriousness!

Yesterday Marty and I were at Falls Park agian...but this time it wasn't for a portrait session - it was a wedding. The weather was fabulous and you could definitely feel that Fall was in the air! Before the ceremony we had plenty of time for portraits so Leslie and her girls had a little bit of fun to pass some time away!

I couldn't get over how great the color of their dresses and flowers were. They look fabulous!

The three flower girls did a great job and were cute as a button! Leslie's dad walking her down the aisle.It isn't very often that we have so much room to move around during a ceremony. I took full advantage of it and snuck around up top for a few shots.
Not sure what it is with my fascination with lighting here lately, but the sun was perfect for me to play around with it!!!!

After the ceremony, we had some group shots before everyone headed up to the reception. I stayed with Leslie and Justin to get some shots of them together walking through the park.
I loved the sun across Justin's back!

I was laying in the road hoping and praying that a car didn't come up the hill and not see me laying there.

I'm lucky I got up when I did....you can barely see a skateboarder in this one....right as he passed me he hit a rock and about ate the asphalt.

I was laughing so hard I could barely get my breath - luckily we stopped to take one more shot before heading over the bridge to Saffron's.

With Leslie being from Tennesse and Justin being a South Carolina guy, there is definitely some rivalry between these two! One cake for the Vols fans and one cake for the Gamecock fans....and the wedding cake with colors of each!!!!!

The lighting at Saffron's Wrought Iron Hall was gorgeous.....white lights and candles everywhere. I loved all the candles hanging from the ceiling! Everyone had a great time dancing and singing!!!!! Leslie and Justin - thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your special (and perfect) day! We had a great time and a lot of laughs with you and your friends and family!!!!!

The Folk Family

Monday Marty and I met the Folk Family out at the Rock Quarry for a session. We were planning to do some of the whole family and then some of little Kaylee by herself. I have to say she was too cute! I had so much fun chasing her around and watching her run. It's so funny how when kids start walking they want to be so independent. It can be one of the most difficult ages to photograph, but at the same time one of the most fun too!

Wednesday Marty and I met Amanda at the Botanical Gardens in Clemson for a senior session. We had a great time getting to know Amanda and she was very comfortable in front of the camera! I think we got some amazing shots of her - here are a few of my favorites!

It was great to meet you and your mom Amanda! Marty enjoyed getting to go to Clemson - it always gives him a chance to have a Cheeseburger Steak at Mac's for dinner!

Saturday the weather couldn't have been more perfect for a wedding! The temperature is finally starting to cool off some and not a rain cloud in sight!!!!!! Marty and I arrived at Creekside Plantation a little early and were able to get some detail shots in before everyone arrived. The sun coming through the trees was beautiful and I couldn't help but play with it throughout the day....here is just the beginning.....The wedding favors all ready to go and waiting on the guests.

While I was upstairs with the bride, Marty was down capturing some great shots of the house and the couples monogrammed photo album.

While we were waiting, I decided to get some quick shots of Maranda with Jeff's ring.

Now typically it's the bride who is nervous, but I definitely think Jeff had Maranda beat! Right before the portraits of the guys he informed me that he had already thrown up once time. I instructed him that during the ceremony, if he got sick to lean over the wall. I have to say, he definitely had me worried!

Maranda held her tears in during the ceremony to be strong for Jeff, but once it was over the emotions began!
I think my most favorite part of the day is after the formal portraits when I can take the bride and groom away for a few minutes. This allows them some alone time and me some time to get some great shots!
Then it was time for the reception. I love Marty's shot of the first dance!

Now, after the sun went down, I cut our light on and had some fun with it. One thing I love about having Marty second shoot with me is the different perspectives we both have....as I am capturing this shot....

Marty and I had a great time last night at the Wedding Festival. We had so many brides stop by our booth to look at albums, ask some questions, etc. It was great meeting everyone and chatting with all of them!

Here are some shots from my point and shoot.... New this year was the Photographer's Gallery....we decided to participate and these were the two images we chose to contribute to it. I think it's a great idea, but not sure it was in a location that was very noticeable. Thanks to Marc and Colleen for all their hard work. I know it takes a tremendous amount of time and effort to put on these shows. And the new entrance was fantastic. I loved how participants were able to walk through an actual ceremony and reception set up as they came in the door!

Back Home

So my mama and I made it back from Charleston. Luckily Tropical Storm Hanna wasn't bad at all, which I am very thankful for. We had a good time and I think my mama enjoyed it. I didn't carry around my big camera the whole time, but I did take it a few places just so I could do something I don't get to do that often....take pics for myself. One of the reasons I got started in photography was because I loved taking pictures. It's something I don't have a lot of time for here lately. I picked my three favorites and edited those really quickly. Here they are......

Anytime I'm in Charleston, I usually go out to the Morris Island Lighthouse on Folly Beach before I leave. I'm typically there around lunchtime, as I usually visit Alicia or Kelley during that time......but neither of them are in Charleston now and one of my wishes this weekend was to go out to Folly around sunset. I'm so glad I was able to do just that. This is where I captured my favorite images from our trip!
Of course I want to spend more time editing these and blowing some up for the walls in our house. But, I have weddings to edit that come first....sooooo....guess I better get back to editing those now!!!!

Hanging out with Hanna in Charleston

Back before wedding season started I mentioned to my mama that we should take a trip together somewhere for a few days. Well, we never decided on anything until a few weeks ago she mentioned it again. I told her she had 2 options....the first weekend in September or wait until February. My mama has never really traveled anywhere much and decided she wanted to go to Charleston since she's never been. So, we hit the road Thursday morning, stopped in Columbia for lunch and got to Charleston around 2pm. The weather was perfect!!! Beautiful blue skies, a nice breeze.....couldn't have asked for much better! Here's some pics taken with my point and shoot from yesterday.

Now the weather today is a little different than yesterday. We were fine until about 1pm when we got drenched from the rain.....I think we are confined to our hotel room for the remainder of the day. A lot of places today closed at 1pm....they have boarded their windows up and put their sandbags out. Only voluntary evacuations have been issued....nothing mandantory. I think we'll tough it out unless mandantory ones are issued. According to the weather forecast the worst of Hanna should come through around midnight until 2am. So hopefully we'll sleep through the worst part. We're staying at the Embassy Suites (where I usually stay when I come down with BI-LO). The building used to be the old Citadel building and has been here for years so I feel pretty safe where we are.

Other than that, my sore throat is now a full blown sinus infection. FUN! Guess we'll be here hanging out in the room the rest of the rain....it's not raining now but every now and then it starts pouring rain. I'll be checking email periodically but if the power goes out, I will not have any internet access. Let's just hope the worst of Hanna doesn't hit Charleston!!!

Kim Webster Maternity Session

Kim and Bryan had a rare session on Saturday - yep those are typically reserved for weddings, but they got lucky! I had so much fun with these two....it was nice to cut up and have a good time with them! One thing that surprised me....most of my clients come to me by word of mouth, refferals from other clients, friends, family, etc.....well, Kim happened to find me just searching online! I thought that was kind of odd, but I'm glad that she did.

She brought her hubby Bryan along with her to get him in on the action too! Kim and I were a little worried as Bryan started mumbling something as he was changing into his shirt. We finally figured out what he was talking about. It seems that his shirt, which he hadn't worn since he picked it up from the dry cleaners a few months ago, wasn't his shirt. It was the exact same shirt, his cuff links, but with someone else's initials embroidered in the shirt AND someone else's
stains around the collar - ICK! At least it was clean! It was funny - sorry for laughing Bryan!!!!

Baby Reese stopped by yesterday for a newborn session. This little girl was adorable and did a great job!

I just noticed her eyes are closed in every single one of my favorites! I think they are barely open in this one, but from the angle I'm at you can't tell that.

I finally decided to start trying to do something new with every session. I made this the night before and decided to try it out....I still need to add more petals to it. I ran out of petals the other night, but I wasn't complaining...especially not after I burnt my finger with the glue gun!
Valerie didn't know she was going to be in on the pics, but once I saw her black shirt, decided to ask if she would mind! I think it turned out great!

The Clark and Eller Famillies

Thursday Marty and I traveled to Piedmont for a session with the Clark Family at Brandi's parents house. It ended up turning into a session for the whole family with Brandi's parents and brother joining in. It was so great to shoot in a new location and have some fun with these guys. Here's a few of the whole gang!

Then just Brandi, Larry, Matte and Grady. When we got done with the groups, we turned around and Grady was sitting on the steps like he was waiting to have his picture taken.

Emily came by Sunday for her six month session. It's hard to believe how fast these babies grow up - it seems like just yesterday I did her newborn session!

Anyway, I think she's gotten a little cuter since then!
We got at least one big smile out of her!
This was my favorite outfit - it was so cute!

I don't think she knew what to do with the feathers - I think they may have been a little strange to her.
Emily had a trip to the lake before her session and by the end of her session I think she was getting a little tired - look at those eyes!

Saturday we were actually right here in Greer for Melissa and Clay's wedding. I was excited that the weather was supposed to be a little cooler and not although we need it, no rain was predicted. We started with some quick pictures outside the church. Oh, I better give him credit - this is one of Marty's shots.
When I went upstairs, this is how I found Melissa....I thought it was too funny!

Okay, now Marty got this shot of the guys...as each groomsmen reached the front of the church, they handed Clay a bullet as they shook his hand. I was told that they were supposed to have shot gun shells instead of bullets...that way when Clay put them in his pockets they would bulge out. That's dirty LOL! I loved the bright colors in Melissa's bouquet, and when I had a minute, I found the sunlight coming through a door, so decided to make use of it.

Wednesday Marty and I met the Godfrey family at the Rock Quarry to get some shots of Gracie and Cal. I was a little concerned about the weather...there were strong thunderstorms predicted but thankfully we never saw any. Also, I don't think we could have picked a cooler day - when we stepped out of the car, the thermometer had 102 on it - LOL - it was HOT! These two were very cute and even though 2-year-olds can be my biggest challenge, they can also be the most fun!!! I just wish I had Cal's energy!!!!

The Ko Family

The Ko Family stopped by Tuesday for a family session and some shots of their son Ayden. This little guy was too cute, but wouldn't smile for me for nothing! I finally got to use my teacup I bought months ago but haven't had a chance to use. Ayden didn't seem to mind sitting in it at all!I think this was the closest to a smile I got from him!
He definitely has some beautiful big brown eyes! Here's the whole family!
I think he was my toughest baby yet. He's like "Lady, I'm NOT smiling!"
We got him in the washtub and he kept his eye on the duck!
I think he was getting a little hungry - trying to eat my towels!!!!

This Saturday it was back to wedding mode for us. We drove to Walhalla for Megan and Mitchel's weddings at College Street Baptist Church. I have to say that it was a great day and nothing could have been more perfect!

While I was inside getting shots of the girls getting ready, Marty headed outside at the perfect time to get this shot of the sun over church steeple. Helping Megan get her dress on.
Megan told me originally there wasn't going to be flowers in the window, but they had these flowers at the rehearsal dinner the night before and decided to bring them and use them!
Now, it's a little game between me and Marty.....he ALWAYS finds things I don't see having to do with the wedding. Most of the time it's a church calendar with the names written on the day of the wedding or something similar....well, he couldn't find one Saturday. There were several calendars but nothing written on them! HA! I think I got him this week....look what I found on the counter in the women's restroom!!!! A cute little basket filled with all kinds of handy items and snacks in case anyone needed anything - how neat!Now I have to admit, this was the first wedding I have ever seen this done at and I absolutely loved it. To begin the ceremony, this little girl ran down the aisle, across the front of the church and up the other aisle with bunches of bells on her ankles. She knew exactly what to do and it was too cute! Marty got this shot as she headed up the aisle towards him. Megan and her daddy walking down the aisle - this time everyone remained seated at the request of the bride so she could see her man!!!!!
I snuck up to the balcony for a few quick shots. I didn't stay up there long - it was full of guests and I didn't want to get in their way!

And it's a good thing the little girl with the bells on had to run around before the ceremony....by the end of it she was passed out in her daddy's lap! I followed the newlyweds outside and grabbed this shot - definitely one of my very favorites of the day! Now before the ceremony someone had a laptop out and was talking to it. It took me a few seconds to realize why in the world she was talking to her computer. Well, she had a microphone and a webcam attached to it. They were going to stream the wedding to a close friend of the family in Zambia, Africa. Afterwards, Megan and Mitchel stopped to say hello before we started formal portraits.
Megan only wanted a few shots inside the church. She wanted to do the other part of them at the Visitors Center across from Table Rock State Park. Although the weather was 99 degrees you can't beat the beautiful backdrop of the lake!

We got some of the bride and groom alone. As I was shooting, Marty noticed this butterfly on Megan's bouquet.

Yes I'm still alive!

After receiving several emails this weekend and this morning I decided I better post something on here! I am still alive - yes I've neglected the blog...it's been put on the back burner because I was trying to finish editing a session and we've had some personal things going on that have taken up some time on top of me not feeling too well recently. The last 2 or 3 days I've felt better so everyone keep their fingers crossed for me!

Noah's Birthday Party

Saturday was another day without a wedding, but we didn't get to rest - we had two birthday parties to go to. The first one was for three of my cousins...the second one was Noah's 3rd birthday party at the Fire Department.

When Noah got there, Trey had to help him get his turnout gear out of the locker.
Then he was dressed and ready for his party. The kids got to play like they were driving the fire trucks.

Then there was a visit from Freddie the Fire Truck.
The kids weren't too certain about Freddie but Andrew wasn't scared to talk to him!
Noah wouldn't have his picture taken with Freddie by himself.
Noah talked to him some when Allison held him.

The Powell Family

Friday Marty and I met the Powell Family at the Rock Quarry for a family session and to take some pics of Sophie for her first birthday invitations. I always look forward to a session that has cake because I know it's going to be a blast! Anyway, I probably have way too many favorites on here, but anyway, here they are!Sophie and her mom - look at those bottom teeth!!!

Todd & Makayla

Last Wednesday Marty and I met up with Todd and his daughter Makayla for a portrait session. Todd was given a gift certificate for the session as a Father's Day gift. We went to a friend of Todd's mom's house which was a gorgeous piece of property with a small pond and a barn. Here are my favorites from their session.
I'm sure Todd appreciated me for this one as Makayla almost choked him!

A weekend off

Well, we finally had a weekend without a wedding - after 7 weddings in 5 weeks we were looking forward to it! So, what did we do? We went camping for the weekend at Lake Keowee with some of our friends. Me, Marty, Farrah, Trey, Misty, Jason and Julie had a relaxing weekend and a little bit of fun. Here's some pics taken with my point and shoot.....

Banner & Tim

Saturday Marty and I were in Pickens for Banner and Tim's wedding at Grace United Methodist Church. These two have been together for a while now (about 6 years if I remember correctly) and everyone kept asking when their big day would come....well it finally happened! You can definitely tell these two were in love with one another and were both happy that their wedding day was finally here!

While waiting on everyone to arrive for portraits I grabbed Banner's bouquet to play around with it a little. I loved the light coming through the stained glass windows of the church.
When Tim opened his gift from Banner he wanted to be alone, but wanted me there to capture the moment. Can I tell you how much I love it when pictures are important to the guys!
Next I found Banner when she was opening her gift. I love the card!

I think I may have played around with her bouquet a little too much! LOL!

We hid the guys and then brought Banner in to pin on her mother's corsage.
Then got a few of Banner alone....again, love the light!
Finally it was ceremony time. Now with this church we weren't allowed to move at all. So, I headed up to the balcony - with me being so short I can usually cover more shots from there. I left Marty downstairs and love this shot of Banner taking a deep breath before her walk down the aisle.
Tim was definitely one of the more emotional grooms. I think it's so sweet when they shed a tear or two!

The architecture in some of the older churches is truly amazing to me.

After the group portraits it was time for me to have these two alone for a few minutes.
I think this is my favorite shot...the light coming through the front doors of the church was perfect!
Then we went outside in the prayer garden.

Then on to the reception! I really liked Tim's ring. It had flat sides to it so I could get some really unique ring shots with it. I don't typically post pictures of the groom's cake, but couldn't resist this one!
The wedding cake rocked! It was finally time for the first dance. These two looked so happy to finally make things official between them!

I'm not sure that Banner likes to dance as much as Tim does. I honestly don't think he ever left the dance floor!
He did get one break - I managed to escape with these two outside for some quick shots in the street!
Then back inside where everyone was still having a great time.

This little girl was my new friend for the night. She was so cute....I sat down for a few minutes to do something and she scooted over right beside me and started talking.

The band definitely kept the dancing going. And going....
Almost everyone enjoyed themselves! The sparkler farewell to end the night!
Banner and Tim - thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your big day. We are so happy for you to and hope you have many years of happiness ahead of you! Congratulations!

Saturday morning Marty and I met Parker and Payton and their parents at the Rock Quarry. Their mom is another mom on the UpstateMoms forum - two in the same week - it is sooo great putting more faces with names!!!!

Anyway, I hate that it's taken me all week to get this post up. Between not feeling very well and being busy things have not gotten done like they need to!

Okay, these two were hilarious Saturday morning and kept me laughing! I don't know who is cuter - they are both so funny! Now, on to my favorites!
Trying to get two three-year-olds to sit still and smile at the same time isn't easy, but I think we managed to get some great shots!

I think she was really debating if she was going to smile at all for us! A little hug....and a little smile!!!!

Baby Brighton

Friday Brighton's mom and grandma brought him by for his 6-month pictures and I have to say that I loved it. This little guy kept me laughing the entire time. He was so funny! Brighton's mom found me through the UpstateMoms forum and I have to say it was great to finally meet her! Here are some of my favorites from Brighton's session.

Micah Painter

Thursday I met Micah and her parents at Reedy River Falls Park in downtown Greenville for a session. I was seriously wondering if we were going to be able to shoot it or reschedule. It was pouring down raining when we left our house, however by the time we got to Taylors, it hadn't rained a drop. Luckily the downtown Greenville area hadn't gotten it either and the sprinkles held off until we were done!

I've known Micah's family just about all my life. I remember her when she was about two running around in her front yard holding puppies while we were taking high school prom pictures at her parent's house! It still amazes me how fast time flies and how grown up these little sisters and brothers are now!

Anyway, Micah's 16th birthday is coming up soon and wanted to do a session for her birthday party invites! Here are some of my favorites from the session....

We started out in the park.
Then went up towards the top some....
And onto the Liberty Bridge. I love how Micah's dress makes those blue eyes pop!
Then finished up in a parking garage! It was a little hot and stuffy in there but Micah didn't seem to mind too much!
It was great to see Micah and her family and I'm so glad the rain held off for us!!!!!! Happy early Birthday Micah! I still can't believe you're going to be 16....that makes me feel so old! LOL!

Saturday was a wedding I was definitely looking forward to and I don't think it could have been more perfect for these two! I was excited because Sue and Chris definitely did things a little different than a typical wedding, but I was glad......it was like a breath of fresh air for us! I will warn you - this is a long post! LOL!

The weather was looking very stormy as we arrived at the Kilgore-Lewis house for the ceremony...but the rain held off for a while!

Sue's dress was very beautiful - handmade byRaf-Lynn at Threadhead Creations from Sue's own sketches. The eco-friendly dress is made out of bamboo, peace silk and hemp.
Sue also placed a butterfly pin that the bottom of her dress that was given to her by her grandmother when she was little. I think it's neat that she's held on to it all these years!

I had to leave the girls for a while to go photograph the groom and his guys. Let me just tell you....this crowd did not take many serious pictures at all! They have the most expressive shots out of all the weddings I've done. Here's Paul, Chris' brother being silly! LOL...
Then it was back upstairs to get Sue getting the finishing touches.
The veil was made to look like Sue's grandmother's veil that she wore in her wedding.
This was definitely one of my favorites....it's Sue wiping away tears just as she stating "why am I crying? I don't cry...why am I crying?" It was too funny! The girls getting ready to walk the aisle!
Instead of a unity candle, these two planted a tree!
All the parents watching... These guys wrote their own vows to each other. I think everyone laughed as Chris read his loving but comical words to Sue!

During the formal portraits it starting pouring rain - luckily we were up under the tent, but eventually water was making it's way to us on the ground. So we got through them just as fast as we could. Some were happier than others, but this one of Sue and her three nieces was too cute!

After the ceremony everyone went downtown to High Cotton for the reception. The restaurant was closed to the public and they had the whole place to themselves! For favors, Chris and Sue had these trees from the Arbor Day Foundation. Guests had their choice of a Longleaf Pine, a Colorado Blue Spruce or a Douglas Fir.
The blue in the wedding colors also flowed over into the reception decorations.
Marty went up to the Board Room to get an overhead shot of the first dance.

The rings were also "green"!!!! They were purchased from greenKarat who uses recycled gold and strives to end destructive gold and diamond mining.

Then it was back inside for the bouquet and garter toss. One of our last weddings had a double-decker set of guys waiting for the garter....this one had an involuntary bachelorette!
These two had a great time and kept me laughing most of the night with their various expressions!
LOL...I think every time I looked at these two she had her phone up doing something with it...I wonder what was so interesting?????

At the end of the night it was time for the farewell....everyone lined up outside to blow bubbles for the bride and groom! They came through the crowd....
...and went back through in reverse!!!! LOL.
Sue and Chris...we had a great time spending your wedding day with you! You guys definitely kept me laughing! I hope you two are relaxing and enjoying your honeymoon!!!!!!

July 4th

Well, several people asked what our plans were for the 4th....it seemed strange to actually have to come up with something to do this year - typically we have plans. Anyway, about 9:30pm Thursday night a group of us finally decided on what to do. About 11 of us met at 8:00am Friday morning and drove to Maggie Valley, NC to eat breakfast at Country Vittles. We ordered family style and it was delicious! After that we drove to Cherokee to ride go-karts only to find out that the track had been torn down and another building was in its place.

So, we kept driving around. We stopped to let the kids go through a petting zoo....and stopped again at a trout fishing place to let Noah catch a fish.....Alli had to help him out a little bit - that was a big rod!
After that we went back into Maggie Valley for lunch and stopped at a gift shop to look around some. McKenna found the clearance stuff on the front porch and decided to model some of it for us!
After that we all headed back home. We all met up again later that evening to grill hamburgers. That was honestly about it. No fireworks or nothing - actually I was scared to shoot any this year as dry as it's been. But, we had a good time and it was better than sitting at home doing nothing or working! I hope everyone had a very happy and safe holiday!!!!

Turner Family

Marty and I met Eric, Amanda and Kayla out at the Rock Quarry last Thursday morning for a family session. Even though the grass was a little wet we were out there before it got too hot. I always say how great it is when I'm able to photograph our friends and their family...this was no exception and little Kayla did a fabulous job!
I love this one that Marty got. For some reason the girls always seem to look at him every time! She looks all grown up sitting up front by herself!
I think she liked picking at the grass.
Amanda did a great job coordinating their outfits. Kayla's dress (shoes and hat!) and Eric's shorts look great together!
